The origins of the Opoczno brand date back to 1883, when Jan Dziewulski and the brothers Józef and Władysław Lange started manufacturing ceramic products and red brick.

The offer was quickly expanded by tiles, wall tiles, stoneware tiles and terracotta in various colours. Intensive development resulted in the transformation of the company into the Dziewulski and Lange Joint Stock Company in 1898, but by the end of the 1930s the name was changed twice. Production was cut back during World War II, after which the company was nationalised.

From the very beginning of the company's existence good care was taken of the unique character of the products, by working with artists, designers and technicians.

In 1905, Dziewulski and Lange Joint Stock Company together with the Architects Club announced a competition for the most beautiful patterns decorating the Opoczno tiles. Contemporary collections, too, reflect European trends in design, fashion and art, the original concept of designers working with design studios from Italy and Spain. Opoczno Ceramic tiles, highly regarded by interior designers, are a combination of classics and modernity making up many unique collections.

The high quality of Opoczno products is the result of using the state-of-the-art production technology.

The brand was one of the first to introduce rectified tiles, which have perfectly smooth edges and are marked by perfect dimensional accuracy. It also uses the antibacterial Smart Silver Technology, which consists in the glazing of silver ions in order to protect the surface of products against bacterial accumulation.

The intensive development, introduction of new technologies and concepts has made Opoczno rank among the top manufacturers of ceramic tiles in Poland and abroad.

Having one of the most comprehensive offers in Poland, it is also the most recognisable brand to customers. The brand's products are highly regarded by interior designers from Poland and abroad, being an aesthetic indicator of original and stylish interior designs. In 2007, the Opoczno brand became a part of Cersanit S.A.

In recognition of the exceptional quality of products, impressive design and attention to detail, Opoczno has received many awards and distinctions.

In 1993 it was awarded the "Poland Now” (Teraz Polska) emblem and in 1997 the "Golden Statuette of the Polish Business Leader” (Złota Statuetka Lidera Polskiego Biznesu). In 2013, the brand received the prestigious Superbrands and Superbrands Created in Poland awards, and in 2015 the "EU Pearl of Ceramics EU 2015” (Perła Ceramiki UE 2015), "Distributors Pearl of Ceramics 2015" (Perła Cermiki Dystrybutorów 2015) and "Pearl of Ceramics of Designers - Users of CAD Decor 2015” (Perła Ceramiki Projektantów – użytkowników CAD Decor 2015). Especially valuable are two of the awards: "Best Polish Enterprise" (Najlepsze Polskie Przedsiębiorstwo) and "Golden Consumer Laurel” (Złoty Laur Konsumenta), which are the recognition of customers.
